What is ULTIMA-GHK-CU 50?

Tripeptide-1 (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine or GHK) is primarily known as carrier peptides. It mainly contributes to the balance and transmission of copper. Additionally, it is a signal peptide that supports the breakdown of oversized collagen clumps in stretch marks; regular collagen synthesis in normal skin; production of elastin, proteoglycans, and glycosaminoglycans; growth rate and migration of different cell types; and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant responses.

GHK is a tripeptide containing the amino acid sequence glycyl-histidyl-lysine. It naturally occurs in human plasma, saliva, and urine. In plasma, GHK levels are approximately 200 ng/mL (10-7 M) at the age of 20 but decrease to 80 ng/mL in the organism at the age of 60. Human peptide GHK-Cu (copper peptide) was isolated by Pickart as an activity in human albumin in 1973, causing old human liver tissue to synthesize proteins like young tissue. Subsequent studies identified this activity as a tripeptide with a strong affinity for copper, easily forming a complex GHK-Cu, with an amino acid sequence glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. Evidence has shown that GHK copper complex (or GHK-Cu) exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, regenerative, and wound healing actions. Recent studies have shown that GHK tripeptide may contribute to the pleiotropic effects of the copper complex, regulating numerous human genes that may contribute to its beneficial effects on health.

Borel and Maquart et al. showed that GHK-Cu at very low, non-toxic concentrations (1-10 nanomolar) stimulates both synthesis and breakdown of collagen and glycosaminoglycans. GHK has modulated the activities of both metalloproteinases and their inhibitors (TIMP-1 and TIMP-2) and acted as the main regulator of wound healing and skin remodeling processes. GHK-Cu has stimulated collagen, dermatan sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, and a small proteoglycan decorin. In 2001, McCormack et al. found that GHK-Cu restored replicative viability to fibroblasts from patients after anticancer radiation therapy that damages cellular DNA. GHK has also been found to attract immune and endothelial cells to an injury site.

GHK-Cu’s wound healing activity has been confirmed in animal experiments. GHK-Cu accelerated wound healing and increased blood vessel formation and antioxidant enzyme levels in rabbits. This molecule has also led to systemic wound healing in rats, mice, and pigs. It improved healing of diabetic and ischemic wounds in rats, reduced TNF-alpha levels, and stimulated collagen synthesis. It also facilitated bed sore healing in dogs. Such well-documented skin renewal activity has led to widespread use of GHK in anti-aging cosmetic products.

CORRECT USE AND DOSAGE OF GHK-CU: Typically, 5 units are taken per day (for 10 days). The cycle can be repeated once a month for 10 days.
